Hardware Floor Finishing Professional
Preparing for finishing

After the sanding procedure is complete we prep the floor for finishing. Due to our dustless sanding little cleanup is required before finishing. A higher quality finish is also achieved due to the absence of airborne dust. This is also a good time to inspect the floor one last time for any missed nail holes or cracks that were missed.

Staining

Staining is the first step in any finishing process if your looking for a desired color. We put stain samples on the floor so the customer can see the color on their floor and against their woodwork and in their surroundings. Stain is hand applied and wiped with rags over the whole floor. Particular care is taken around baseboards adjacent rooms where stain is applied. We like to allow the stain to dry overnight. Its significant to note that water drops, moisture, bare hands and knees that come in contact with the bare floor or stained.

After cleanup we normally like to immediately apply the first coat of finish because this will cause less grain to be raised. The finishing process involves applying a protective coating and a color if desired. Finishing provides a uniformly enhanced surface and seals the wood to make it less absorbent to moisture and foreign materials.
